RL = 'Real Life'. I've had some things going on outside of SL that have greatly reduced the amount of time I have available to work in SL, but my hope is that will be changing soon. Congrats on mastering the avatar, and don't worry too much about the appearance change - we all go through that from time to time when SL experiences a little glitch. Those things usually work themselves out. :-)
